Welcome to the
OTTAWA YMCA
of Ottawa, Illinois!
We are one of the
most
complete fitness facilities in the area. We are a membership organization
for youth and
adults.
YMCA Mission: "To Put Christian Principles Into Practice Through Programs
That
Build Healthy Spirit,
Mind,
And Body For All."
The YMCA follows Core Values in all of its programs.
They are as follows:
Caring
is shown in the way staff and volunteers treat
members, donors, and partners in the community, as well as each other. They show
empathy to each others concerns, are willing to listen to others problems and
suggestions, and offer thoughtful gestures. They also listen and respond to the
stories of those in need of YMCA programs and services. YMCAs provide a place to
youth where they can make mistakes, learn from them, and grow.
Honesty
is the topic of ethical leadership. Staff and
volunteers have to be honest with themselves and each other about the capacity
to serve, their goals, and their dreams. Such honesty leads to commitment and
builds a foundation for trusting relationships.
Respect is a far-reaching value. YMCAs try to build
individuals self-respect and also encourage people to respect one another.
Respect is about tolerance, but is also about approaching differences. When
staff and volunteers take time to understand it, they develop a respect for its
uniqueness and the YMCAs role in serving it.
Responsibility is something YMCAs seek to instill in
individuals and demonstrate responsibility in its own actions and organization.
YMCA programs encourage people to engage in the involvement and service, take
responsibility for their health, and accept responsibility for their actions.
Coming This
Fall...The Q Place
Are you looking for an
alternative to discussing spiritual topics about life, God and the Bible?
The Q Place

can develop through discussion of spiritual questions. Participants meet
weekly in a small group setting. The first seven week session will meet around
the topic
"How could God allow suffering and evil."
There is no fee
for the program and a $10 material fee.
The Q Place
will meet at the Ottawa YMCA conference room on Tuesdays from 10:15-11:30am.
See the service desk for more information or to sign up. Drop ins are welcome.
