The Ottawa YMCA started in 1909 with it's first donation of $40,000 from Soloman E. King.  Then, in the 1950s, we ran our first programs and had our first full time staff person, Ray Nason. The Grand Opening of the Ottawa YMCA current building, was January 18, 1958.

We held many capital drives to make improvements in the building in 1976. The courts were added in 1980.
In 1986, there were major renovations and the whirlpool was added. Then in 1999-2000, there was the addition of the new gym (Bowermaster Center), the Chapel, and other renovations.

We, the Ottawa YMCA, are currently serving 4000 members with 1500 memberships. There are 3000 non-member program participants. We employ 70 full and part time staff.
